Random Moments of Insanity
This year a 'group theme' was decided on.
It's Alice in Wonderland.
So here are some fun, real time photos from the office.

A Peach of a Story
Hello, lovely reader.
As you may or may not know, the arrival of November ushers in a national event that doesn't seem to get enough positive press...even though it totally should. November is National Novel Writing Month, affectionately referred to as NaNoWriMo, thirty days and nights of literary abandon designed to encourage the great American novelist in all of us.
Tia, the newest Diva here at DivaStan, is a long time participator in this event, dutifully dedicating every moment of her 'free' time for the entire month to creating her own little literary masterpiece. This year TiaDiva is doing her part to encourage other to participate in this event by hosting kickoff parties, planning write-ins, and arranging raffle items to help raise money in support of NaNo.
One of the activities at the first kick off party for NaNo 2009 was to write a brief story using the 'regional dare' item...and since this is Georgia...the dare item is a peach. So here, as 'guest post' of sorts, is Tia's story about a peach.
"Once upon a time there was a peach. It was very peachy in a peach-like sort of way, and peaches are wont to do. Whatever the heck 'wont' means. So, back to the peach. It was peach-colored, not green like some of those bad peaches who hang out on street corners and mug old ladies, but a peachy peach. It had a peach crack, which was shaped like a peach crack and not a baby's butt, because seriously have you seen a baby's butt? They are not attractive in the least...back to the peach. It was covered in peach fuzz and went on an adventure and saved Mississippi or someting and nobody cared. And stuff."

The Weird German Girl
So, I stopped by the mailbox this morning on my way to work. And inside my little metal mailbox was one of the 'super special' keys...meaning I had a large package waiting. I was surprised...because I wasn't expecting anything. So imagine my delight when I saw that it was a big box of goodies from my very dear friend the self-titled 'Weird German Girl.'
Unfortunately for me...I had an entire day of work between me and my chance to open this package.
Chocolate Santas on sticks (a personal favorite), Christmas gummies, cookies, marzipan treats, chocolate covered spiced cookies, fruit cake, even more chocolate Santas...
...an Advent calendar filled with chocolate, chocolate egg ornaments filled with chocolate creme, a box of Winter truffles (flavors like orange, vanilla, and honey), even more cookies...
...and this little guy. Oh, adorable little Kinder chocolate Santa...I'm afraid you just might be first.
Dear Kati, you have 100% made my day...and yes, I'll do my best to 'share' all the goodies.
Thank you.

Life is Random...So Are We
Remember that trip to Lake Lure I mentioned? Of course you do. Well, while we were there we couldn't help but notice a rather creepy collection of fish mounted on the living room wall. Yeah, there was a serious 'ick' factor for both Tia and I. Fish are creepy! Dead, stuffed, plastic coated (or whatever) fish hanging on a living room wall are even creepier.
But apparently...they are creepy in a 'fascinating' way...

The DivaMom
My family and I spent the weekend in a cabin in Lake Lure, North Carolina. The area is, without question, one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen. One of the 'tourist-y' things we did while there was take an 'aquatic tour' of the lake. In the middle of October. In the North Carolina mountains. It was FREAKING FREEZING! But it was awesome, a beautiful and worth every chilly second (more pics later...and you'll totally agree with me once you've seen them).
The picture above is of my mom, bundled up against the cold but having a absolutely fantastic time. Yes, it's out of focus...but it is still my favorite picture from the entire weekend.
